Max Ryan is the Director of Real Estate Development and Construction for Alliance Partners HSP. Mr. Ryan has over 19 years of experience in the development and construction management of commercial real estate. He has obtained entitlements for more than three million square feet of space, ranging from the redevelopment of individual standalone buildings to 110+ acre master planned business parks. He has designed and constructed over $420 million of base building projects, as well as over $150 million of tenant improvements. Areas of expertise include remediation of environmental conditions, due diligence of complex assets in various regions of the country, restoration of historical properties, and designing new work environments to support the changing workplace.
Mr. Ryan began his career in 1995 as the chief estimator at Wilhelm Commercial Builders, a Maryland-based general contractor. Mr. Ryan then joined the newly formed public REIT, Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT), in 1999. Mr. Ryan was responsible for all aspects of development and construction related to COPT’s 21 million square feet portfolio.
Areas of specific focus at COPT included SCIF and anti-terrorism design requirements. Before departing from COPT in 2012, Mr. Ryan was the highest-ranking senior construction and development manager, handling all the company’s highest profile projects including mid-to-high rise office buildings, retail, renovations, mixed use development, and land development. Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Towson University.
Mr. Ryan served on the Board of Directors for US Green Building Council’s Maryland Chapter, as well as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Waterfront Promenade Redevelopment Committee. He was appointed by Rand Griffin (COPT) and Governor Martin O’Malley to lead the design and construction of Maryland’s 9/11 Memorial. Mr. Ryan has also designed and built numerous large scale public art installations in the mid-Atlantic region.
