Jay Dunn joined Alliance in 2014, and currently serves as Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets where he focuses on strategic partnerships and joint ventures, equity capital raising, debt financings and acquisitions.
Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Dunn was a Director at Hentschel & Company, a boutique real estate investment banking firm based in New York City, where he completed over $26 billion of mergers & acquisitions, advisory and private capital market transactions. Selected transactions include: sole advisor to the Lehman Estate in the sale of Archstone to Equity Residential and AvalonBay; advisor to the Special Committees of Cole Credit Property Trust II and Cole Corporate Income Trust in their respective mergers with public REITs; and a $200 million joint venture and entity recapitalization between a global asset management firm and an industrial real estate fund manager.
Prior to joining Hentschel & Company, Mr. Dunn helped launch Jones Lang LaSalle’s North American private placement group and completed its first transaction, a $300 million capital raise for a private New York-based real estate investment firm in a joint venture with a large university endowment.
Mr. Dunn began his real estate career at Morgan Stanley as an Associate in the real estate investment banking group and MSREF private equity funds. While at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Dunn completed over $8bn of transactions in principal, advisory and capital markets capacities, including the $2.8 billion acquisition of the General Motors Building in a joint venture with Boston Properties and Goldman Sachs and the $1.2 billion purchase of 60 Wall Street in a joint venture with Paramount Group.
Mr. Dunn holds a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, with Distinction, from the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
